What will my child do at our Summer Day Camp?
(
return to the top of Summer Camp)

The children will be working on 5 different gymnastic events each day, plus will go swimming in our beautiful pool! The mini campers will also get to do some fun arts and crafts projects. At the end of the week they will get to take home their arts and crafts project as a memento of their fun filled week of learning!

FUN is Far More Than Meets the Eye!

One of the objectives of our classes is FUN! Of course, this is cool with the kids but parents sometimes fail to realize the importance of fun in a learning setting. Peope often feel that when fun is present, learning is not. Nothing could be further from the truth. Well adjusted learners form an early and life-long subconscious association defining any attempt to learn something new: challenge = risk = learing = fun!

The value of this association becomes very apparent by considering the opposite (too common) association: challenge = risk = fear = anxiety. For a child with this negative association the pain of possible failure is simply not worth the risk. Is it any wonder why so many children learn to 'insulate' themselves from their fear and anxiety by forming apathetic attitudes about learning such as: 'who cares?' or , 'why should I even bother to try, I'll never be able to do it anyway?'

OK...now that you know a little more about the goals and substance of our program we have a favor to ask you... just don't tell the kids: they think gymnastics is just PURE FUN!

USAG Competitive Team
(return to the top of Summer Camp)

What is USAG Team?

For the most talented and dedicated athletes, USAG team is a wonderful way to develop skills and routines. It is a demanding program requiring many hours of hard work, but the rewards are well worth the effort. Athletes must meet strict strength and flexibility requirements and be willing to practice year 'round. When routines are ready, athletes will compete against other clubs, working towards qualification to championship competitions as well as moving up through the Levels, increasing their skill level as they go. Team isn't for everyone, but the rewards for those who qualify are well worth the hard work.

Cheer Tumbling Summer Program
(return to the top of Summer Camp)

With many of the same benefits of gymnastics and dance plus a unique teamwork element, cheerleading has developed into a challenging and exciting sport! The classes we offer instruct all aspects of gymnastic-related cheerleading skills with about 80% of the time devoted to tumbling skills specific to the needs of cheerleaders. The rest of the time we devote to leaps and jumps, etc. All classes are limited to 8 students per teacher.

Cheer Tumbling levels are divided into three categories, each building upon the skills of the other.

  • Beginner - This is designed for the cheerleader who has had little or no formal tumbling or gymnastics training. Many girls will already have rolls and cartwheels, but have little or no experience with backwalkovers or backhandsprings.
  • Intermediate - This is designed for the experienced tumbler who is very close to performing standing backhandsprings by themselves and are ready to work on round-off backhandsprings.
  • Advanced - This is designed for advanced tumblers who can already perform round-off backhandsprings by themselves and are ready to begin back tucks, layouts, twisting, etc.
